Getting to Know Me #2

A while back I shared a post about how I started my shop here. I decided I would ask on my Facebook fan page for some questions that the fans had for me to get to know me or my shop better. Well today is the second in Getting to Know Me better series.

Alaina asked, "What inspires you the most?"

My kids inspire me the most. I get a lot of ideas from things that my kids like or ask me to make them.

My inspirations while on vacation last week.

Lisa asked,  "What do you like to do when your not crafting?"

When I am not crafting I love to read and do fun activities with my kids. A day is just not the same if I don't get to read. I love a wide variety of books from young adult, mystery, romance, historical fiction, and more. Both of my kids have caught the crafting gene from me and are always asking to do fun crafts and projects so I am always trying to come up with new ideas.

My daughter playing with a pom pom shooter we made earlier this year.

Dus asked, "Do you have a favorite type of yarn?"

My favorite type of yarn is the bulky soft yarn I use to make my large owls. I love the texture of it and how easy it is to work with when crocheting.

One of the owls made in my favorite yarn.

Come back next week to see answers to more fan questions. What would you like to know about me? Leave a question in the comments and I will answer it in a feature post.

Featured Shop Wednesday: Angel Crafts

Welcome to a new week of Featured Shop Wednesday! This week please welcome Sandra from Angel Crafts!

Tell me a bit about yourself
I'm a creative person and always have been interested in creating things from a young age. I have lived in several countries and have loved them all for different reasons. Now I call the beautiful land of cow-bells and chocolate, Switzerland, home. We, I and my darling hubby and beloved boy, enjoy the peace and quiet of living in a small village with lovely mountain views. I'm a home manager, blogger and writer. I love photography and reading. I'm a Christian and believe in the statement "Love conquers all".

Tell me about your shop and what you make.
Angel Crafts Shop was born out of my advocacy efforts for special needs orphans. I make Kanzashi-inspired Hairclips, Suffolk-Puff Hairclips, Hairbow Holders and Fimo Keyrings. 50% of all sales benefits special needs orphans. We have an orphan of the month who is selected from an orphan advocacy website called Reece's Rainbow.

What inspires you to make what you make?
I love hair accessories and had long hair most of the time. I enjoy putting my hair in lots of different hairdos and so making hairclips is a natural extension of this love. The traditional art of Japanese Kanzashi has always fascinated me and after trying my hand at it, I decided it was what i would make to help the orphans I advocate for. And i will keep on making and selling these because I know these precious children need someone to love them... even from afar... and this is my way of loving them and creating awareness of their situations.

Fun Questions:
Favorite Color: Orange
Favorite TV Show: Friends

Favorite Season:
Summer
Favorite Ice Cream Flavor:
any fruit sorbet
What did you want to be when you grew up?
Grow up to be a teacher, writer artist, creative...is it possible to more than one?
If you could stock your fridge with one food, what would it be? Milk

Getting to Know Me #1

A while back I shared a post about how I started my shop here. I decided I would ask on my Facebook fan page for some questions that the fans had for me to get to know me or my shop better. Well today is the first in Getting to Know Me better series.

Kelly asked "What is your least favorite chore?"

I would have to say cleaning up after the cats when they get sick is my least favorite chore. Never thought this would be something I would have to do in my life, but when you have a cat that likes to gorge herself you end up with cat throw up a lot.

These are our two cats. The one on the right is the one I have to clean up afterwards.

Cody asked "What is your least favorite color to create with?"

Orange. The main reason is it is a hard color to find of yarn when I go shopping. I can get it in cotton but can't really find it any other type of yarn.

Here is an owl ornament I actually made in orange.

Ashley asked "Do your kids ever try and keep what you make?"

Yes! Every thing I make they try to keep for themselves. I have started hiding things so they won't take off with the items I have made that need to be shipped out. They have a never ending list of items they want me to make them.

Here is a picture of my youngest who even likes to take my yarn scraps.

Come back next week to see answers to more fan questions. What would you like to know about me? Leave a question in the comments and I will answer it in a feature post
